Existing Structures Engineering Community Service
Homes for Our Troops
Existing Structures Engineering (ESE) actively participates in a variety of community services including Home for Our Troops (www.homeforourtroops.org), Florida Disaster Engineering (www.floridadisasterengineers.org), and the Cape Canaveral Fire Department.
Homes for Our Troops is a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c) (3) organization providing specially adapted homes for severely wounded military personnel. Through a growing network of donations from building contractors, suppliers, corporate supporters and volunteers, HFoT is able to provide assistance at no cost to the veterans that serve our nation.
ESE provided engineering services for the Russell Marek house pictured below. Russ served with the 4th Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq when his tank was destroyed by an IED explosion. Along with the loss of three of his crew members, Russ lost his right leg and arm, his right ear and left thumb, and suffered permanent brain injury and severe burns.

Florida Urban Search and Rescues Structural Rescue Program (Florida USAR)
Florida Urban Search and Rescues Structural Rescue Program (Florida USAR) instituted through the Florida Disaster Engineers Organization is a program that Existing Structures Engineering provides its expertise when disasters strike. Often first at a disaster scene, Florida USAR structural specialists perform damage assessment mitigation with the goal in mind to prevent loss of life to rescue personnel and building occupants. The Jacksonville, Florida, downtown parking garage construction collapse of 2007 and the hurricane Ivan search and rescue mission are two instances in which ESE has assisted first responders in their preservation of life.
Cape Canaveral Fire Department
Existing Structures Engineering provides volunteer assistance for the Cape Canaveral Fire Department by hosting classes in Search and Rescue technique and the use of the USNG Grid Coordinate system.
In addition to being an active community participant, ESE annually donates to a variety of charities including Citizens for Florida’s Waterways, Purple Martin Conservation Association, Florida Atlantic University Senior Engineering Design Project, Cocoa Beach High School Project Graduation, Cocoa Beach Elks Lodge, Tampa General Hospital Foundation, Cocoa Beach Football Booster Association, Cocoa Beach Kiwanis Club, and the Tyler Farnham Benefit.
